How can I get started?

It costs nothing to find out if your life and work experience can be successfully matched to a traditional college curriculum. If you do qualify, you are under no obligation to accept or purchase anything.

Just click on the button "click here to apply". You may also submit a resume or other relevant information.

Which names will appear on the degree?

You may choose from our established AED Universities.

Each school has its own website and each will verify your degree to inquirers. \

How does the verification process work?

Anyone seeking verification of your degree may contact your  University or the Official Transcript Archive Service.

Requests for records may be made by email, web form request, fax, phone or postal mail.

What are some of the benefits of a Degree?

The benefits to each individual are diverse and often personal. A partial list includes:

  • Equal status for a job interview or to attain promotion.

  • Prestige and acceptance of holding a title such as Doctor.

  • Enhancement to letterheads, business cards, nameplates, etc.

  • Evidence of your educational qualifications.

  • Recognition for experience received in your profession.

  • Increased self esteem and respect from others.

  • Heightened credibility and greater impression of respectability.

Does everyone qualify?

No! Only 10-15% of applicants have skills or qualifications that meet the expertise of a college graduate. However, if your assessment shows that you do not qualify for a degree your advisor will provide you with options and recommendations on how to proceed toward earning a degree. It may be that you need more documentation of your experience, or additional study in a particular area.

If additional study is required, your advisor will direct you to sources of both traditional and non-traditional education.

Do you have residency requirements?

No. We accept applications from every country. We believe that educational opportunities should be available to everyone, everywhere,

Are you accredited?

Yes. All Universities are accredited and government recognized.

Do you offer Notarized Diploma Authentication for embassy submission?

Yes. You may order a special document that may be used to have your diploma authenticated by the Authentication Office of the United States Department of State, or another country.

Authentication consists of a notarized document attesting to the authenticity of the degree certificate which is attached to a copy of your degree certificate.

Highly recommended: If you order this item at the same time that you pay fees for your original degree documents, it will be shipped with your package without any delay. The fee for this document if ordered with original documents is $295.

If you order later, the process will require the production of a copy of your diploma, which may require several weeks for delivery.  If you order separately the fee is $500.

Do you offer Apostille Service?

YES! All Sponsor University degrees can be Apostilled by a Secretary of State Department or Country Official. The Apostille (with official seal) legalizes the notarized authenticity report of your degree and transcript.

If your country is one of the members of the Hague Convention

http://www.hcch.net/e/members/members.html, your country will recognize your degree as being authentic, once it is Apostilled.

Highly recommended

If I obtain a bachelor’s degree, can I use it to enter a graduate program at another institution?

Acceptance of any degree is the decision of the receiver. Your Advisor can recommend several universities that have accepted our degrees without question. However, some colleges or universities do not recognize credits earned at non-traditional colleges. If a transfer of credit is your goal, we encourage you to contact the school you wish to transfer to prior to submitting your application.

Of course, you may also choose to seek a higher degree through our Sponsor Universities, all of which accept credits from all sources.

Can I use a bachelor or master degree towards a PhD?

Yes. We accept all degrees from all organizations, schools and universities. However, we do not recommend that you use a degree obtained outside traditional classroom walls to obtain a Ph D through another institution.

If you want to go on to obtain a higher degree, perhaps a good solution would be for you to be evaluated for a Ph D through a Sponsor University.

How do I represent the way I received my degree?

There are literally thousands of schools that offer distance education degree programs. It is no longer a requirement that a person attend classes at any special location in order to obtain a degree.

Our Sponsor Universities are licensed and registered to issue degrees for distance learning and portfolio assessment. This is a legal degree. You may include it on your resume, business card, letterhead, passport, web site, job application, or any other official document you fill out.

Like all documents, you must use your degree in a legal manner. The deliberate misrepresentation of how your degree was earned could cause confusion or potential problems. For this reason we, as well as most institutions, recommend that their graduates be truthful regarding the method by which they earned their degree.

Earning a degree by an independent evaluation process is a tremendous source of pride.  The methods by which you acquired your knowledge represent years of your work, experience and accomplishments and are no less valuable than the more traditional method of sitting in a classroom.  In any case, we protect your right to privacy.

I have a BA and MA but I stopped while working on my doctorate. I would still like to get my Ph. D. Will I be required to write a dissertation?

Because a doctorate is based on your dissertation, you may wish to submit your writings. Or you may pursue an evaluation based Doctorate. Your advisor will strive to find ways to help you reach your goal.

Isn't this too "easy"?

No. It is actually "easier' to take degree courses traditionally,  than to acquire years and years of knowledge outside classroom walls. Only recently have some schools begun to acknowledge the importance of experience gained outside the classroom.

In the real world a traditional degree is an indication of ability in a given area.  It is no more than a credential presenting the completion of a process.  The requirements are based on subjective opinions of what "educators" feel is necessary to qualify. The AED Program on the other hand, evaluates a person's proven qualifications objectively based on comparative analysis to standard curriculum requirements.  The decision to grant the degree is based on what HAS BEEN accomplished, not speculation.

A common complaint heard among large employers is that new graduates with "traditional" degrees are often not properly prepared for the job, while many experienced people who can do the job can't get the opportunity because they lack the appropriate credential.  These facts more than hint that the traditional educational system seems to be obsolete.  A good, but frightening example can be found in international news articles about the recent failures of huge businesses that were lead by people with "traditional credentials".  The AED Program represents a positive solution to a perpetual problem; finding and qualifying accomplished performers.

AED provides the experienced person with a chance that is virtually impossible to get without enrolling full time in a traditional school.

Ultimately, you may be the best judge. If you honestly feel that your knowledge was attained "too easily", or feel that your knowledge is not as valuable as classroom learning, it may be that you have not acquired enough education to qualify. The evaluation is free, and there is never any obligation to accept any degree for which you may qualify.

Are you associated with any religion? Are you offering degrees based on some sort of tax exemption granted to non-profits for religious purposes?

No. Beware of any organization claiming a "Church" non-profit status that offers degrees. If the organization is claiming a false non-profit status, their degrees may not be legal. Although our Sponsor Universities offer degrees in all majors, including religious degrees, and may refer interested person's to providers of ordination and other clergy services, AED is not a religious organization.

Could it be possible to backdate the diplomas?

Because your degree is based on an evaluation of your experience, your degrees will be dated as closely as possible to the time that you attained your education.

For example, if you reached a Bachelor Degree level education (without attending classes) by 1996, we recommend that your degree be dated no earlier than 1996. Then, if you attained a Master Degree level education by 1998, your degree should be dated 1998 or later, and so forth as your education level increased up to a Doctorate level.

Will I receive a transcript with my degree?

Yes, you will receive transcripts for each degree, showing representative courses that correspond to your qualifications. Qualified AED students pass these courses through an evaluation of their skills, knowledge and educational background. The AED may be compared to passing “test-out” exams which are often taken by “classroom” college students. If the student challenges a course by passing a “test-out” exam, he/she is given full credit for the course as though it had been completed by attendance in a classroom setting. Similar to the ”test-out” example, your transcript will show a traditional curriculum of courses (which you have passed based on equivalency) as though you attended. There is no mention of "equivalency". The course names and grades and graduation date will appear.

Is there a fee for transcript request?

There is no charge for transcript verification by phone. There is a small charge to anyone requesting copies of transcripts by email or fax mail.

Mailed transcripts are usually required when an institution considers the transfer of credits, from one institution to another.  Requests for this type of "official" transcripts are rare, but always available.

What if I qualify for several degrees? Do I have to accept them all?

No. You may accept any, all, or none of the diplomas and/or certificates for which you qualify.

If I accept them all, do I have to pay for all programs at the same time?

You pay for only those you accept. There are reduced fees for accepting several degrees at one time.

There is no charge for your evaluation. If you do choose to accept your degree (s),

If I qualify for more than one degree, will the dates on all of them be the same?

No. The dates will not be the same, as you acquired your skills in different years. The graduation year of your degree will match as closely as possible with the time periods in which you attained your skills.

Are your degree programs accepted by personnel managers?

Many of our clients have their entire tuition fees paid by military, Fortune 500 companies, local and federal government agencies, and businesses of all types. If you require an official invoice to submit for payment or reimbursement, please request an invoice in comment section of your enrollment form. Applicants are encouraged to check the acceptance of our program prior to submission of invoice.

Where can I find documentation for my life experience?

There are many forms of documentation that will be accepted. Besides certificates, degrees from other schools, universities, colleges, trade schools, etc., a written description of each life experience may be sufficient. If additional documentation is needed, the Academic Peer Advisors will notify you.

Why doesn't your organization offer "Distance Learning" courses and textbooks?

The Advanced Education Development Evaluation Process is NOT a school. It is ONLY for candidates that have already learned as much, or more, than a college graduate from their own life experience.

Why is the cost so much less than a traditional degree?

You have already attended your courses through your life experience. Our organization is not a school and does not offer courses, so we do not charge for them. Attending schools to obtain traditional degrees can cost from $25,000 to over $100,000. The Advanced Education Development Program can cost less than 5% of the cost of attending a  traditional institutions.

Are their any limitations?

Degrees are NOT available in the areas of aviation or medical - no matter how much experience you may have. NO EXCEPTIONS.

No degree (of any type) guarantees employment, success or acceptance.  There are also many professions where licensing and other state regulation is required. However, in many occupations or professions degrees, certifications and/or designations can be an asset.

We have no reported denials of acceptance from any client, organization or institution.

Can I call and ask more questions?

It is important to us that all of your concerns be addressed. Because we work with clients worldwide, and most correspondence must be translated several times,  The Advisory has found email to be a much more efficient and accurate method of communication.

We request that you put all of your concerns in writing so that the peers may share this information with one another and confer to provide you with answers.

Please feel free to email a description of any concern, and we will be happy to forward it on to the proper peer advisory.  You will receive a prompt response.

What about Professorships?

AED University Services offers "honorary" professorships in all major areas of study. Much like a Certificate or Certification, the Professorship is not a degree, but a certificate of achievement of a certain level of education, or the completion of certain courses or standards. Adjunct, Assistant and Full Professorships are available to all doctorate level degree holders. Like all certifications, a professorship does not guarantee employment, success or acceptance, and is not a "clone" to a college professorship.  There are also many areas where licensing and other state regulation is required. However, in many occupations or professions degrees, certifications and/or designations can be an asset.
